The United Church of Christ just voted to back gay marriage. I think that is a baby, baby, baby step in the right direction, eh?
I definitely think that’s a step in the right direction. I’d like to believe that governments that legalize gay marriage (local, state, federal, or foreign) will do so because there’s no secular reason not to, regardless of how religions feel about it. I mean, it seems to me that not only would a federal ban on gay marriage be unconstitutional, but the current kind of de facto ban is just as unconstitutional.
But I’ll always believe that anyone supporting gay marriage is a step in the right direction.
