I’ve attempted to fix the text styles so that they’ll display correctly on the first visit (without having to manually adjust the text size). I can’t tell if it looks okay from my computer because I made it look okay, or if it’s now actually working.

Please let me know how it looks to you, and if you had to do anything to get it to look that way!

Thanks!

As requested, I’ve posted the new poem “Most Days” in the poetry section.

The title stands only until I can come up with a better one, so if you have an idea, you know, let me know. Just don’t be offended if I don’t use it.

Given my recent posting habits, there’s probably no point in posting these AFK messages, since I could easily go an equally long (or longer) time even I were in town, but…

I’m off in a few minutes to spend some time with a great uncle in Tennessee. I may or may not have internet access there, and I may or may not be back in time for the Slam on Saturday.

But that reminds me, you should go to the Slam.

As you can probably see, the site’s undergone a bit of a makeover. Not everything’s up yet, and not all the links are working, but I got impatient, so I decided to put it up.

If you think I’m missing something, or you have a site you’d like me to link to, let me know.

Also, my apologies to anyone who’s left comments in the past. I’ve migrated over to Blogger’s comments system (which didn’t exist when I first started the site), which means that old comments have remained on the old server.

Anyway, I hope you like it!

I’m about to hop in the car and head down to Virginia for the week. No computers or internet where I’m going, so I won’t be updating until after I get back. If you’re lucky I’ll have pictures of the gorgeous Blue Ridge mountains.

My mom pointed out yesterday that I posted a link to a book about globalization and lost my job to overseas outsourcing. I posted a link to an article about the low stress level of Harrisburg and my apartment was broken into. Nearly makes me afraid of the power of my blog.

I’m not sure what harm this could do though:

metacritic

The site compiles critic opinions of movies (in theaters and on DVD), music, and games, then scores them out of 100. “The Godfather” is their all-time high scorer. “Bio-Dome” is dead last. Sounds about right to me.

I got the gallery working! Yay! Next step is to figure out why the first post appears in a smaller font than subsequent posts, but for now, here are the pictures of the sunset in Erie:

Look up. Just below the banner.

I’ve added a poetry section and a mediocre RSS feed. If you look down, I’ve also added a way to comment on posts.

Thrilling, no?

I’ve decided to start this off as an experiment. I’m going to try to post at least a few times a week, and if I actually keep up with it, I might evolve into something a little more advanced. In the meantime, I’ll share some of my thoughts about the idea of having a LiveJournal.

I’ve journaled privately for most of my life, and have always done so for the privacy of being able to spill my thoughts into words without having to share them with anyone else. For this reason, LiveJournaling and I seem like we might not go so well together, but on the other hand, I guess I’m egotistical enough to want my thoughts to be available for everyone to read. I also have a strong desire to eliminate bullshit and drama from my life, and excessive honesty might be a way to do that. Either that, or it will completely backfire and I’ll spend a lot of time cleaning up messes, but that’s part of the experiment.

So here we go…
